CHENIN BLANC PLAT'BOS *202054.80
With vines planted in 1981 on granite soils at the Paardebosch farm, this wine qualifies for the Old Vine Project (OVP) seal. One of the great whites of the southern hemisphere, not just of South Africa, this is the Montrachet of Chenin Blanc. It has the concentration of its 40-year-old vines, mouth-watering acidity and pH, chiselled freshness and layers of rock salt, aromatic spices, pear and lemongrass.

CHENIN BLANC SKALIEKOP *202054.80
These vines were planted in 1985 in very shallow shale soils in the Paardeberg, being an anomaly as the mountain is granite driven. Skaliekop is harvested at the end of January, early February over four picking dates. The wines of the different pickings were aged seperately, before blending and then bottling at the end of the year. The wine is qualifying for the Certified Heritage Vineyards (CHV) seal and forms part of the Old Vine Project. Herbal, intense and very focused, understated depth and concentration, notes of fresh dough, beeswax, lanolin and lemon zest and a stony, chiselled finish.

ELPIDIOS201924.35
A blend consisting of Grenache Noir (38%), Syrah (36%), Pinotage (10%), Carignan (9%) and Cinsaut (7%). The different wines were fermented and matured in concrete vessels as well as in old 500 L neutral French oak barrels and a 4 100 L foudre (Pinotage). After bottling, the wine was aged in bottle for 18 months before release. This vintage is again based on grapes grown in granite soils from the Paardeberg, blended with structured shale/schists from the east, clay rich soils from the north and iron mixed soils from the west. Bright melange of dark fruit with filigree tannin & spice. So cohesive and resolved. Grippy, firm and stony, a waft of rose petal and tangy red cherry, plum and redcurrant fruit.
